Magnolia Quietly's my love letter to espresso. A new school espresso that delights in those surprisingly fruity shots with bright and sparkling acidity. It always seeks out sweetness paired with fun floral notes and bright acidity. It is all the best aspects of modern espresso and works to remind me that the possibilities for a good cup are endless when we forever seek coffees that are in bloom.
Tega & Tula Specialty Coffee Farm is one of Ethiopia’s oldest large-scale coffee operations. Established in 2000, the farm initially earned a strong reputation before experiencing a decline in quality, which lead to financial woes. Recognizing the farm’s potential due to its ideal coffee-growing conditions, Ahadu Woubshet purchased the farm and continues to transform these them through his community initiatives and structural improvements. He has added washing stations,transport roads, and even a school for the children of staff. Compared to other farms in the region, wages at Tega & Tula are 20% higher and every year, works vote on a community project. According to Ahadu, “without a community, you can't have a farm”.
Sourcing coffee for Magnolia is always fun because we try to bring back the same farmers and we have no shortage of fun sweet and floral options in our network. It has been too long since we had Tega & Tula with all its wonderful berry and jammy stonefruit flavours. On the nose, you will get lush jasmine and the cup opens up on strawberry notes before moving into cooked apricot and pear. The punchy fruit flavours slowly give way to a intricate amaretto liqueur, that is sticky and sugary with just a hint of almond and caramel.
